WHS Drama & Forensics Attends "DEMO" @ State Fair!

The WHS Drama and Forensics students and their instructor Caitlin Hendrix attended the Kansas State Fair this past week. The Fair holds two days of Debate and Forensics Demonstrations for students from across Kansas. These "demos" are hosted by Sterling College, and the students are given the opportunity early on in the semester to witness what a true high school debate looks like. They practice "Flowing" during the debate and then discuss the cases and how to improve their own before tournaments begin in two weeks!

("3" of the "14" families will begin next week).

Dozens of Dads, Donuts and Smiles @ Washington Friday!

There were dozens of dads, donuts and smiles on hand Friday morning at Washington Elementary. Dad's and Donuts day is an annual event at Washington. Dads and their kids enjoy some juice and donuts and each kid gets to pick out a FREE BOOK to keep and read to their dads! To see such huge smiles on such young kids so early in the morning can mean only one thing - they love their dads!

WHS FFA Students Spend "Hands-On" Day @ KSU Livestock Birthing Center

Taima Graves, Annika DeJarnett, Andi Dry, and Moriah Lyne worked at the Kansas State Fair in the Livestock birthing center on Tuesday September 12.  The students taught young and old fair goers how a calf was born and had them help pull a fake calf from a fake cow.  The fake cow helps to train vet students at Kansas State University the right way to pull a calf.  The calf can be twisted and turned around in the fake cow so that students get a "real" feel for what may happen in the real world.

Lincoln Patriots Honor "Local Heroes" this Sept. 11th, 2017!

The Lincoln Patriots invited Wellington's First Responders to a Heroes Luncheon on Monday to commemorate the 9/11 terrorist tragedy 16 years ago in New York City, Washington, D.C. and western Pennsylvania. The students and staff honored their "LOCAL HEROES" with a luncheon and then a salute to the USA, by forming the letters U - S - A on their playground and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance together. Awesome event Patriots and very awesome local heroes as well. Thank you for all you do, 24/7, year-round.
