WHS History Students Road Trippin' in Kansas City!

You can read books about it, you can listen to lectures about it, you can even watch videos and other media materials BUT there is nothing like the real thing and it's the real thing WHS Juniors participated in Tuesday on a 16 hour road trip to Kansas City and back home. WHS instructors Mike Wilmoth and Rick Phelps oversee these annual excursions. Between the 5:15AM departure and 9:45pm arrival back home, here's what they did!

R*E*S*P*E*C*T Assembly @ Lincoln Friday

This month at Lincoln Elementary, the young Patriots have been learning about RESPECT as part of their Character Counts curriculum. In conjunction with that theme, numerous veterans were on hand as guest speaker Sgt. Eric Page addressed the students about respect for the flag and respect for each other. The students received instruction on "saluting" as well from Sgt. Page, a gesture in the military signifying respect.

Country Grammy Nominee @ WMS Thursday!

The 6th grade students at the Wellington Middle School were treated to a special concert on Thursday, November 16th.

Paul Bogart, Grammy Nominee for Country Song, Country Album, American Roots Song and Gospel Song this year, performed a few of his favorite songs for the 6th grade students and staff members.

Several of the MTSS groups wrote their very own songs during MTSS time and shared them with Paul.  The students and staff enjoyed the show and the stories Paul shared with them.

Scholarly Knights Bring Home The Hardware!

The Pioneer League Championships were held Thursday at El Dorado MS for their PL Division's Scholar Bowl competition.

Congratulations to our Wellington Knights who finished 2nd (7th Grade) and 3rd (8th Grade) out of 6 teams at the end of season event! You can see by the wins and losses, the KNIGHTS fared very well - congratulations again to both the 7th and 8th grade squads! Awesome job overall!!

Industrial Arts @ WHS * Hands-On & Practical

Industrial Arts is an educational program which features fabrication of objects in wood or metal using a variety of hand, power, or machine tools. A visit to Mr. Ryan Elder's classes on Wednesday at WHS found many interesting and practical projects in progress. No student encouragement is needed - when the bell rings the students get down to business. A couple of classes were building tool caddies, others worked on numerous woodwork items including tables, outdoor furniture and more.
