4A Volleyball Sub-State Held @ WHS Saturday!

An exciting run by the Lady Crusaders, at Saturday's 4A Sub-State tournament held here at WHS. In the semi-final rounds, it was Clearwater over Winfield and Wellington over Mulvane, both matches, 2 set matches. The "2" advanced to the Championship Final and what a first set in the final, it was. Back and forth, and unfortunately a 26-28 victory for the visiting Lady Indians. The "mo" slipped a bit and Clearwater wrapped it all up in 2 sets, with a 25-12 victory in the latter.

IRONDUKES Down Mulvane 20-13 / Ark City HERE Friday!

The now (3-5) IRONDUKES pulled in their 2nd win in as many weeks, downing the Mulvane Wildcats Friday evening at Sellers Park, 20-13! It was a close contest, knotted at 7 at halftime. The Crusaders were able to put points on the board and the defense kept the Wildcats out of the endzone the last 13+ minutes of the game. Strong showing by QB Berkeley Wright who passed for 177 yds, including a 57 yarder to Cope Henry. Dustyn Schettler shined, 218 yds of offense from this young man, including a 64 yd romp to paydirt!

Payton Ginter - 2020 State 4A Girls Golf Champion!

WHS Senior Payton Ginter is the 2020 4A State Girls Golf Champion! Her and WHS Sophomore teammate Kasiah Richmond qualified for the State Tourney, this time last week in Wellington, at the 4A Regional. Richmond had two strong days of competition and finished in the middle of the field at 34th. There were 63 participants at this year's State 4A Golf Championship!

Wellington Surprises Buhler with 27-13 Win!

Down 13-7 after 3 qtrs, the "WELLINGTON" Crusaders lit it up in the 4th. "3" 1 yd rushing TD's by Sr. QB Berk Wright, complimented with 2 PAT's by brother Jack. Dustyn Schettler racked up 167 yds on 28 carries. The "O" and "D" Lines did their jobs as well. The "D" held Buhler scoreless from the 2:19 mark in the 2nd qtr. on. Berk also connected with Montel Tate in the 2nd qtr for a 23 yd score, PAT good.

The path to the STATE 4A GIRLS TENNIS MEDAL - Congrats to Rylee Rusk and Calli Hatfield for their 6th (out of 16) place finish at the State 4A Tournament!

Calli Hatfield and Rylee Rusk, fall to Independence 6-9 and end up with the 6th place medal! Congrats to both on great tournament play and great careers at WHS. We are very proud of you both!
