It was an amazing Wednesday morning on Wednesday this past week, with IKE friends and family! “Fossils with Friends” was a huge hit, and Eisenhower staff wants to thank all of you for joining us for cinnamon rolls and juice! Ike families are truly the best!!!!
Eisenhower held their monthly Character Assembly on Tuesday, this month's theme - "FAIRNESS".
After arriving for the day at school, the students were entertained by the WMS Cheerleaders, who also shared their perspectives on "fairness". WMS 6th Gr Instructor and coach, Ryan Jenkins and student Gavin Witham shared their thoughts on "fairness", reminding all that life isn't always fair but to always look for opportunities to better yourself and compensating for those occurrences.
A musical (and quite humorous) group from Belle Plaine, calling themselves the "APPLE PICKERS", performed Tuesday at Eisenhower Elementary, as part of the EAGLE celebration of KANSAS DAY! The "Apple Pickers" integrate info about "KANSAS" into their music, making it quite apropos for the occasion. Enjoy the pics and the video of their musical finale, "When The Saints Come Marching In"...
The Eisenhower Eagles on Thursday were greeted on arrival by numerous "local heroes", i.e. Fire, EMS, Police, and Military. An assembly followed and October Students of the Month were announced! Check out the pics from the Eagles grand start to Thursday!

The annual WE LIKE IKE parade took place Thursday on PLUM ST. here in Wellington. All Eisenhower students, with police escort, paraded south on PLUM to the Brookdale Assisted Living establishment. Then, by class, the Eagles sang patriotic songs to the residents under the direction of their music teacher Pam Thompson. A superb performance by all of the classes.
Eisenhower Eagles were greeted by the Crusader Football Squad Friday morning as they arrived for school. An assembly followed, with talk about leadership, how do you provide it, etc. The players and students spent quality time together before all had to return to their respective buildings and classrooms.
The Eisenhower Eagles, as part of their Spirit Week activities, took part Wednesday in the national "Talk Like A Pirate Day", dressing as pirates and watching a pirate-themed magic show performed by "Dan, Dan the Magic Man". Anyone around WHS in the early 2,000's will recognize "Dan" in the pictures below, as Dan Heath, the former drama teacher at Wellington. His magic show was quite funny and the young Eagles and the old photographer were entertained. Aaaarrrrgggghhhh!
The annual Grandparents Day celebration at Eisenhower took place Monday afternoon. The 1st graders invited their grandparents to join them the last hour or so of school, for entertainment and for visiting - a roomful of proud grandparents and a roomful of young kids, proud of those same grandparents.
At Wednesday's Character Trait Assembly at Eisenhower Elementary, the students commenced the day, traversing through a 2+ hallway FAN TUNNEL made up of soon to be graduates at WHS in May! Several of those graduates had actually attended Eisenhower as young students themselves, so for them, the cycle was completing. For the young Eagles, exposure to success of others who came down the same paths as they, can't be a bad thing at all, and it wasn't.
Mrs. Pam Thompson, directed the 1st and 2nd graders at Eisenhower Elementary on Tuesday, Feb. 27th in a vocal music concert held at Wellington High School. The young children performed very well, singing a myriad of "fun" songs! "Just For Fun", "Tell Me A Joke", "Giggles", "Whacky Do Re Mi", "I Like to Have Fun" and "Miles of Smiles"! See, I wasn't "kidding" - it was "FUN" stuff! Great Job Eagles / Mrs. Thompson!
Eisenhower Elementary students were greeted Tuesday morning by student-athletes from both WMS and WHS! A large contingent of KNIGHTS & CRUSADERS were on hand to SHARE in word and example, the meaning of FAIRNESS! February STUDENTS OF THE MONTH were announced as well! Watch for those soon, here on USD353.COM! Great way to start the day! GO EAGLES / GO KNIGHTS / GO CRUSADERS!
The Eisenhower Eagles were greeted Wednesday morning by members of the WHS Choir and their director Jessica Coldwell. After a trip through the FAN TUNNEL, the Eagles and Choir members assembled in the commons for announcements and song! Not a bad way to start the day - music and smiles!
The 3rd & 4th graders at Eisenhower Elementary, under the musical direction of Mrs. Pamela Thompson, entertained a large crowd Tuesday evening at WHS with their 2017 Christmas Program! Spirit was high, smiles were a plenty with much more to come folks! (See Schedule Below). The young Eagles performed traditional Christmas favorites like "O Come All Ye Faithful" and a few not so traditional (but very good and FUN!) like "Santa, What A Guy"! There's nothing like listening to children/young adults sing.
