                                on the 2018-2019 enrollment tab located on the bottom left-hand side of the age. On August 7th, stop by the High School
                                and pick up a Kansas Star Visa Card
for each enrolled student and you’ll be good to go! This will eliminate waiting in lines

  • Maintenance Department Head Groundskeeper

    HEAD GROUNDSKEEPER

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Purpose:  The Head Groundskeeper is responsible for the maintenance and improvements of the athletic fields and irrigated areas of the district properties. The Head Groundskeeper will ensure that these grounds are kept in top condition for full and productive use. To accomplish these tasks the Head Groundskeeper must work closely with the staff and administration of U.S.D. #353.

    Responsible to: Buildings and Grounds Supervisor

    Qualifications:

     1. High School diploma or equivalent.

     2. Experience in building and grounds operations.

     3. Desire to continue career improvement.

     4. Familiarity with computers and software relating to maintenance and inventory.

     5. Ability to read chemical labels.

     6. Ability to follow material safety information.

     7. Ability to initiate and complete work orders.

    8. Have a valid driver's license, be able to drive, and qualify under the district’s insurance

     carrier when driving a district vehicle.

     Essential Functions:

     1. Maintain school buildings and grounds in top condition to ensure full and productive use

    of district facilities.

     2. Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.

     3. Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.

     4. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.

     5. Appropriately operate all equipment and machinery as necessary.

     6. Support the value of an education.

     7. Support the philosophy and vision of U.S.D. #353.

     Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

     1. Requires prolonged sitting or standing.

     2. Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or

    materials.

     3. Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reaching.

     4. Requires climbing and balancing.

     5. Must work indoors and outdoors year-round.

     6. Must work in noisy and crowded environments.

     7. Must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors.

     8. Must be able to drive a mechanical vehicle.

     9. Must be able to work in high places.

    General Responsibilities:

    1. Personally participate in all grounds activities.

    2. Supervise a crew of grounds workers in all ground care activities.

    3. Maintain all planting beds at District facilities.

    4. Perform and supervise the preparation and application of herbicides and insecticides to grounds in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.

    5. Provide equipment recommendations for all grounds maintenance activities.

    6. Provide and maintain a plan for long-range maintenance needs of athletic fields and planting beds.

    7. Maintain all grounds equipment including record keeping of all maintenance performed.

    8. Assist maintenance department in repair and maintenance of all property in the open.

    9. Cleanup trash after all activities at athletic facilities.

    10. Maintain and operate all irrigation systems.

    11. Perform all tasks related to preparation of athletic fields for games and practices.

    12. When not engaged in grounds work, assist the maintenance staff in a variety of general tasks throughout the district.

    13. Remove snow and ice as necessary to provide a safe environment at all district property.

    14. Assist in maintaining school buildings and grounds in top condition.

    15. Assist in promoting the safety, health, and comfort of students and employees in school

    buildings and grounds.

    16. Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance and

    repair projects.

    17. Move equipment and materials within and between school buildings.

    18. Observe district policies at all times.

    19. Keep up to date with new information, innovative ideas and techniques.

    20. Adhere to all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of Bloodborne Pathogens.

    21. Work a variety of hours in order to perform duties.

    22. Other duties as assigned by Administrative Staff.
