USD 353 Wellington Public Schools - Virginia Swecker, long-time Wellington resident and area educator will serve as the Lincoln Interim Principal for the remainder of the school year. Virginia has taught both regular and special education and has served in a variety of administrative positions including Director of Special Education Interlocal 619 in Wellington, and Interim Director of Special Education in Haysville.

Top KSDE Officials Visit USD 353

KSDE COMMISSIONER The Kansas State Department of Education Commissioner, Randy Watson, accompanied by District #10 State BOE member Jim McNiece who also is presently serving as Chairman of the State Board of Education, visited Wellington and the Wellington School District on Friday. At WHS, Mr. Watson and Mr. McNiece ate lunch with students, exchanging ideas, answering questions, etc.

This week is American Education Week. Though it's close at hand your WNEA officers and committee members hope you will take a little time to celebrate the week.

Cowley College Basketball Teams Put On FREE CLINIC!

About 2 dozen Cowley College Tigers and Lady Tigers and their coaches were on hand Thursday afternoon at Wellington High School to put on a FREE basketball clinic for 1st thru 6th graders from around the area. Over 60 participants took part in the hour long clinic - very enthusiastic group, young and old! GO COWLEY COLLEGE and thanks for coming over!!

SCCDAT Receives Large Drug Free Communities Grant!

In March of 2016 the Sumner County Community Drug Action Team submitted an application for the Drug Free Communities grand funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Last week SCCDAT was notified that they have been awarded a $125,000 Drug Free Communities grant.
