The annual Candy Bar Election took place Thursday at Washington Elementary. Perhaps one of the "SWEETEST" elections you could ever participate in and more than likely be at least content with either winner...in other words, not a typical election. :)
The annual Washington Elementary "Jog-A-Thon" was held Friday between 17th & 18th Streets on Washington Ave. Students receive pledges from both individuals and businesses for "per lap jogged", their laps are kept track of by jog-a-thon officials and in the end not only have they participated in a great physical activity, they've raised monies for their school's technology budget. The staff and students at Washington greatly appreciate all of the support they receive from individuals and groups for this endeavor.
For the third year in a row at Washington Elementary, Mr. Robert Meyer's 4th grade class held their "Candy Bar Election" to determine this go-round...which is better, the KIT-KAT bar or REESES! The voting process was REAL, even down to the official ballot.
The 2nd through 5th grades at Washington Elementary this past week held a Spelling Bee with parents and classmates on hand to observe. It was a battle in each class to ascertain an eventual winner but winners were eventually determined. Congratulations go out to 5th grader Fredrick, 4th grader Jagger, 3rd grader Levi and 2nd grader Raelynn for hanging on for their respective wins! Their pictures and others are accessible via link below.
