With the WMS Scholars Bowl season winding down, the 7th and 8th grade Knights road tripped to Goddard MS on Tuesday with grand results! Our 8th graders, for the 3rd time this season grabbed the gold, defeating host Goddard, Ark City, Haysville and Valley Center. The 7th graders fared well too, finishing 3rd in the field of 5.
Congrats to both squads and good luck this Thursday in El Dorado at the Pioneer League Tournament which will conclude the Fall 2017 scholars bowl season.
Congratulations to the WMS 8th Grade SCHOLARS BOWL TEAM! The Knights were in Newton Thursday and went UNDEFEATED, topping host Newton, Augusta, Mulvane and Salina South. How awesome is that?

Wellington Middle School 8th grade students attended Cowley College's Manufacturing Day on October 11th. The day was geared towards hands-on learning workshops in different areas of manufacturing such as: automotive, welding, non-destructive testing, mechatronics and the military.
Students learned how to change tires and check for oil in the automotive workshop.
The new track project began after school was out this past Spring and as of the middle of October, the project is nearly complete. The final markings have been applied, they need to cure for a week or so and then we just await the arrival of TRACK SEASON in the Spring! (It'll be here before you know it!)
The Sumner County Spelling Bee was held Wednesday at Wellington Middle School. Nearly 3 dozen contestants vied for the Champion title and when it was all over, Wellington Middle School's Jax Cornejo, son of Jesse and Airily Cornejo was on top!
The 7th grade basketball team is selling WELLINGTON BASKETBALL gear to help fund a trip in January. The KNIGHTS will be traveling to watch a college game and learn about basketball at the next level. All of the clothing on the site below will say "Wellington Basketball" (FONT will be similar to "DUKES" font below) rather than Knights or Crusaders or Dukes. The team wants you to be able to wear any of the items to all events. Everything will be screen printed EXCEPT for polo shirts - those will be embroidered.
This is a picture of 3rd Hour Child Development class at WMS instructed by Vicki Hillhouse. Students shown are participating in the Flour Baby Project. They have been made to understand this is just a small simulation of actual caregiving/parenting.
Mrs. Traci Smith's 4th Hour Native American History students at Wellington Middle School have been busy painting pictographs on "buffalo hides". They have also been constructing tipis (teepees) - a very hands on and creative activity for the Knights!
Mrs. DeJarnett's 7th Grade English classes did presentations this week on GREEK MYTHOLOGY. Part of the presentations included "dressing the part"!
Check out some of their works (and looks!)
