Dear USD 353 Community,
I wanted to let you know about an incident that occurred this afternoon. After school today, a vehicle drove by a few of our USD 353 sports practices and fired a soft pellet gun at students and coaches. Wellington EMS responded along with the Wellington Police Department. A couple of students were hit but luckily there were no major injuries. All of our students are safe at this time and the parents of affected students have been contacted. We appreciate the work of the Wellington Police Department, Wellington EMS, the USD 353 Administration, and our Coaches for responding to the incident. If you have any additional information regarding this incident, please contact the Wellington Police Department as they continue to investigate this unfortunate incident. Student and staff safety is our highest priority and we will continue to work to make our schools and programs as safe as possible.
