A Driver Education course will be offered this summer for students who have completed their eighth-grade year of school and who will be 14 years of age by June 1, 2026, but not yet 19 years of age by September 1, 2026. Enrollment will be limited to the first 100 students who complete the enrollment procedure. An enrollment packet will be sent home on 3/30/26 with all Wellington Middle School 8th graders and all interested students from Wellington High School. Two sessions will be offered, one from June 1 - June 19 and the second from June 22 - July 10. The course costs $150 (one hundred fifty dollars) for students who attend a USD #353 school and $200 (two hundred dollars) for students who do not attend a USD #353 school. This fee is non-refundable if the student chooses to drop once the student has begun their behind-the-wheel training. No fees will be waived for this course. Completed enrollment forms and fees may be turned in at the Wellington Middle School Office from March 31 - April 24, 2026, between 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM. Enrollment forms and fees must be turned in at the same time. No applications will be taken after April 24th because of the time needed to get licenses (DE 99) from the state.
