The USD 353 Board of Education has scheduled a public hearing for Tuesday, November 10th at 6:00 pm at the WHS auditorium. The purpose is to discuss two proposals to close Washington Elementary School after the 2026-27 school year. The first proposal would send students living in the Washington Elementary boundary to Kennedy Elementary, while students living outside the city limits would continue to attend Eisenhower Elementary. The second proposal would have the Washington Elementary students attend grade-level centers along with the rest of the district’s elementary students. The meeting will be open to the public and will be live-streamed.
